Tigbauan, You Are Blest

Bulahan Ka, Tigbauan
(in Hiligaynon, Ilonggo Dialect)
lyrics by: Maria Luisa Tejero Torrento
music by: Romulo J. Pangan

Tigbauan, banwa ka nga dungganon,
Puluy-an sa higad sang baybayon
Ang imo kasaysayan gindihon
Sa sulod sang madamong dinag-on.

Tigbauan, matahum ka nga hiyas,
Napugtak sa sidsid sang Visayas,
Dutang gintakda sang Manluluwas
Diin ang paganismo napanas.

Kay sa hamili nga dughan nimo,
Diri ginpanggas ang Kristiyanismo
Relihiyon nga nangin regalo
Sang Hesuita nga misyonero.

Ang mga anak mo nagkilala
Sa Santa Iglesia Catolica
Nga sa imo kadaygan gindala
Sadtong prayle gikan sa Espanya.

Ang Dios nagapakamaayo
Kag pirme naga-ubay sa imo
Kay ginbaton mo ang Krus ni Kristo
Nga kaluwasan sang mga tawo.

Sanctuario ka sang mga deboto
Sang mahal nga Señor Santo Niño
Nga ginkabig nga Patron sang pueblo
Bangud sang Iya mga milagro.

Tigbauan, bulahan ka nga banwa,
Kay ang imo mahal nga parokya
May simbahan nga human sa gugma
Templo sang malig-on nga pag-isa.

Damgong nagmatuod ang katulad
Sang simbahan nga sadto ginpasad
Ginpatahum suno sa ginsaad
Sa imo, Tigbauan, ginahalad.

Tigbauan, You Are Blest
(English Translation)

by Maria Luisa Tejero Torrento

Tigbauan, you're a renowned town,
A home by the sea shore sprawled;
Your history was sculptured,
Through many a number of years.

Tigbauan, you're a beautiful gem,
Studded at the hem of the Visayas;
Land destined by the Messias,
Where in paganism will perish.

Because in your gentle bosom,
Here, Christianity was then sown;
A religion that was a gift
Of the Jesuit missionary.

Your children acclaimed without doubts
The Most Holy Catholic Church
That was once brought to your bounds
By that friar from faraway Spain.

The Almighty Lord blesses you
And keeps watch over you always
' Cause you embraced the Cross of Christ
Which is the salvation of mankind.

You're the sanctuary of devotees
Of the Most Holy Child Jesus,
Adopted Patron of the place
Because of His great miracles.

Tigbauan, you're a town so blest,
Because your beloved parish
Has a church that is made of love,
A temple of a strong oneness.

Likened to a dream come true
The church that was built long ago
Now made beautiful as promised so,
Tigbauan, 'tis offered to you!
