Flowers

"Flowers never emit so sweet & strong a fragrance as before a storm. When a storm approaches thee, be as fragrant as a sweet-smelling flower."

Orchids

Josh Groban Quotes

"I'm not crossing over from anything. I think of it as pop music with different influences."When I walk in the music store, [my] album is under Classical/pop/easy listening. It's hard to say what genre it is. It's genre less. I try not to define what it is. I let the audience decide it. Because for me, it's just me."

"My life is an unfinished product, but instead of saying, 'How do I stop what I've accomplished,' I decided, I wanted to move forward, express my growth and take a big step in the next chapter."

"It's really tough to make a name for yourself without compromising and without fitting yourself in to a real specific mold. When I made the choice that I would be involved in every aspect of music and not necessarily make music for radio or MTV, I was saying, "OK, this is me."

....................

"Yeah, it's hard to sing sad songs when there's so much love."

....................

"I can only say so much about how I feel. Music is what I always turned to when I was feeling a certain way. It's been my reason for everything."

.....................

"First and foremost, I'd like to continue taking risks with my music. Everything I've done so far has been a gut reaction, honest and real. And that's who I am. That's what I want my music to always be -- honest and real."

Blossoms

I'm not a professional photographer. This is the first time, I experimented on taking pictures... and I like the outcome of my work. The blossoms in my little garden inspired me.

Hibiscus

"Remember... anything done in anger will always leave a drop of blood in someone's heart, and even an ocean of tears cannot wash it away." - The Legend of the Hibiscus

Hibiscus

Hibiscus the flower of pride
In color you said it right
Bright and beautiful to the eyes
In dignity you stood up right
Smiling and swaying nation wide
Calling all in peace to unite
Unique flower in petals of five
Symbol of Malaysia nation wide

by Mary Das
Hibiscus

Your prostrate self
In the ground did confide
Where you lay down our woes
And diced vanity and pride.

And from the time worn prose
Of the epitaph,
Grew a sacri legion rose
Coiling up a staff -

A stake in the ground
Of an old forgotten fellow,
Where the rose wound
Up in an impudent yellow

Burst of petals.
And the marigold
Sometimes meddles,
Infinitely secure

Under the cherry trees,
Who are spraying heir scents
caught in the breeze,
Like errant fragments

of what you taught,
Wisdom keeps trickling.
Fruits of knowledge
Are pickling, pickling

In jars left infact
That, today, still preach
Light rays which diffract
the myriad peach.

What did blossom in the spring
But the lissome hibiscus?
Five red robes bearing
Your humble hubris.

We drink the nectar
of your reverberations,
Trying to make vector
Of hallucinations

My Little Garden

My Garden

The world is sadly sick, they say,
And plagued by woe and pain
But look! How looms my garden gay,
With blooms in golden reign!
With lyric music in the air,
Of joy fulfilled in song.
I can't believe that anywhere
Is hate and harm and wrong.

A paradise my garden is
And they my day is spent;
A sleep myself in sunny bliss,
Incredibly content
Feeling that I am truly part
Of peace so rapt and still,
There's not care in my heart...
How can the world be ill?

Aye, thought the land be sick they say,
And named into pin,
My garden never was so gay,
So innocent, so sane.
My rose mocked at misery,
My thrushes vie in song
When only beauty I can see,
How can the world be wrong?

- Robert Service

Tigbauan, Iloilo

Seven new one-act zarzuelas in Hiniray-a with music ranging from traditional & folk melodies to pop & rock to rap & hip hop were created by the town’s writers, performed by students and teachers and presented free to the public during the two-week festival celebrating the past, present and future of Tigbauan in particular and Iloilo in general.

AH…GALEH?! (AH…IS THAT SOH?!) the failures and triumphs of high school kids wrought in pop rock rhythm by librettist/lyricist Rhea Mae Catera. Tigbauan’s acclaimed pop rock band Dahon Kamote (Kamote Leaf) rendered the rumbling music.

Libretto and lyrics by Maria Luisa Tejero Torrento set to traditional and folk melodies. Its finale rap elicited raves from the audience.

ANG PAGKATAWO NI HESU KRISTO SUNO KAY MATEO, LUKAS KAG IBAN PA NGA MGA SAKSI (THE BIRTH OF JESUS CHRIST ACCORDING TO MATTHEW, LUKE AND OTHER WITNESSES) is a contemporary reconstruction of the 1930’s zarzuela Tigbauena performed during Christmas. Set to traditional lyrics and music of Tigbauan’s da-igon (carol) with libretto by Henry C. Tejero. The Shepherds’ Song was blown up in hip hop.

HANDUM KAG KABUHI NI PFC. ELISEO GONZALES TEJERO, 1942 (HOPE AND LIFE OF PFC. ELISEO GONZALES TEJERO, 1942) the nobility and courage of the Tigbaueno during the Death March from Bataan to Tarlac revealed when Eliseo’s straggler best friend Tony returns and recalls their ordeal.
